Houston is a car-centric city, which means restroom access is often easier than in pedestrian cities — simply pull into a gas station or fast-food drive-through. But on foot, the options require a bit more planning.
Houston Parks and Recreation
Hermann Park near the Museum District has several restroom buildings open daily. Memorial Park, one of the largest urban parks in the US, has facilities near the tennis center, golf course and trailheads. Buffalo Bayou Park has newer restroom pavilions that are clean and well-maintained.
Downtown Houston
Discovery Green park in downtown has public restrooms open during park hours. The Houston Public Library central branch downtown also welcomes public use of facilities.
Medical Center Area
The Texas Medical Center — the largest in the world — has numerous public lobbies with restrooms accessible to visitors and the general public.
Major Shopping Centers
The Galleria, Memorial City Mall, Katy Mills and most large Houston malls have well-maintained public restrooms that are accessible during retail hours.
Sports Venues
On game days, Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center and NRG Stadium open restrooms to ticketed guests. On non-game days, check with venue management as some maintain lobby access.
